100% Verdicchio
Verdicchio comes from the Marches region on the East Coast of Italy where the rippling hills taper towards the east along rivers flowing from the Apennines to the Adriatic. It is an indigenous vine that has been grown here for nearly 2000 years. Seldom grown elsewhere due to its delicate nature the Verdicchio grape can produce wonderful wines. This is one of those. It is pale and bright with a dry, light delicate bouquet, which is slightly nutty and reminiscent of un-oaked Chardonnay. The fruit comes through on the palate and is nicely balanced with fresh acidity. It is a very well made attractive white, which is ideal with a plate of anti pasta or a light salad.
Richard Bampfield MW:
Bright, greenish tinge to colour. Intriguing aromas of apples and pears, with a touch of cinnamon, pleasantly reminiscent of dry cider. Crisp and refreshing on the palate, with hints of herbs and sufficient acidity to give good length. Good with poultry, white meat.
